Ian McMinn. “Funny he never married”, yes, Ian would have appreciated that very much. A man with a wicked sense of humour and a soul of compassion and love.”Funny he never married”, yes, Ian would have appreciated that very much. A man with a wicked sense of humour and a soul of compassion and love. I knew Ian for many years and shared his house in Brooklyn, and later 83 Kent Tce after the Brooklyn fire. He was working in Palmerston North when I broke the news about the house one of the most difficult things I have ever had to do. The tragedy was that we had started decorating, half the bloody house was newly painted!
He taught me a lot about the theatre in fact everything I ever learned. He also taught me to not eat his chilli con carne, once was enough believe me. Thank god we had a pub with cold beers next door. Yet I would eat his chilli again any time just to see him one more time. I still coil cables the way Ian taught me and think of him often, how could I not. And for the record Peter Frater was right when he mentioned Ian’s ladder sleep technique, I witnessed more than once myself.
Ian, you will be missed. See you on the 27th – Jimbo X
