LONG CLOUD YOUTH THEATRE – audition
There is an opportunity for 5 people to join Long Cloud Youth Theatre. Upcoming Sunday I will be holding an open audition at Wellington Performing Arts Centre (36 Vivian St), 7pm-9pm. I would like to invite you to audition to be part of the Company.
The audition is at Wellington Performing Arts Centre (36 Vivian St) on Sunday 15 Jun 7pm-9pm. For this audition you need to prepare a 2-3 min monologue. You can choose whatever existing (!!) text you like, but you do need to have a strong connection to the character and the play. Also you need to be able to articulate why you want to be part of the Company and what your ambitions are in the field of theatre. Wear movement clothes.
Long Cloud Youth Theatre, run by Wellington Performing Arts Centre, is a unique training and production company for young people aged 16-21 years. Now entering its third year, the Company gives young actors the means to enhance their theatrical skills through practical performance experience and the opportunity to work with Wellington’s foremost theatrical directors and tutors. The program is run by award winning teacher and director Willem Wassenaar. He coordinate the actors’ journey and directs the two productions throughout the year. There is a training fee of $235 per term.
In this program you have the opportunity to grow as an actor and at the same time make theatre with likeminded passionate people. I have big dreams for the Company and I am especially looking for anyone who wants to make a big commitment and investment in being part of Long Cloud Youth Theatre. The program is intense with two rehearsals/classes each week, on Monday and Friday evenings, and you need to be available in some weekends and holidays as well. It is like doing sports at a very high level.
The members of the Company get intensive training in movement, voice and acting by various tutors as well as working on two productions throughout the year, one performed in June and one performed in September. The program is designed to equip the company with the necessary performance skills to create vibrant, dynamic, bold and relevant theatre. The Company will produce one devised and one text-based work throughout the year. Most recently the Comany has performed the succesful Spring Awakening, see http://www.wpac.org.nz/Performing_Arts/Class_Descriptions/Spring_Awakening.
In the upcoming period the Company will train in improvisation and devising skills for the purpose of staging a devised work at the end of September. Tutors/directors will be award winning Sophie Roberts and Willem Wassenaar.
Please let me know asap if you want to audition: wassenaarwillem@hotmail.com / 027 717 4161. I need to know this by Thursday. I look forward to hearing from you.
Cheers
Willem Wassenaar
