PLAY READINGS: in the Pit Bar at BATS

A CALL OUT FOR SCRIPTS

BATS is starting a monthly play reading at in The Pit Bar at BATS, and Self Serve – 10-17 January 2009 – is acting as a launch for this. Spread the word!

Writers

Do you have an interesting script that you’d like to hear read by a company of actors focused on performing new scripts?

Self Serve at BATS Theatre is a different kind of play reading, which steers clear of traditional workshops and readings. We are taking the play reading out of the stale rehearsal rooms, and putting it in to the laid-back BATS atmosphere.

It’s about you the writer being able to examine and become pro-active in the development of your script, sharing skills with experienced practitioners as part of our development team, and seeing the work up on its feet and read like it was a performance.

Submission guidelines:  
– It must be a previously un-produced script
– It must be a script you really like and enjoy & think others would too
– Scripts can be any length
– You need to be around Wellington between 10-17 January
– Please provide a brief paragraph of why you want your script to be part of this exciting reading.

You may have never written anything before, or you may be a hip new up and comer. It’s open to anyone who has interesting ideas, and a love for writing and performance.

Please submit your scripts by 24th October to Steph Walker at steph@bats.co.nz or send a physical copy of your script to BATS Theatre, 1 Kent Terrace, Wellington.
