SUMMER SHAKESPEARE 2009 presents
The Victoria University of Wellington season of
HENRY 5
Directed by David Lawrence
OPEN AUDITIONS 11-12 OCTOBER
WANTED:
Kings, queens, princes, princesses, bishops, archbishops, lords, knights, messengers, peasants, soldiers, Heralds, traitors, thieves, hostesses, whores, boys, English, French, Welsh, Scottish, Irish
With the country in economic crisis, the government finds a convenient loophole that allows them to legitimately invade another country even though there’s nothing to link them to the terrorist attacks. Can King Henry and his loyal men convince the country to follow them to France to defeat the enemy, marry the princess and bring home the oil?
Spend a glorious summer outdoors learning how to speak verse, wield a sword, ride a horse, fire a crossbow, blow up a tank and conjure an entire world with the mere power of words! Headed by a multi-award winning production team, the 26th Summer Shakespeare will be a gigantic-cast spectacular celebration of theatre with live music, exciting battles, iambic pentameter, spears, explosions and maybe even live animals (but probably not)!
Rehearsals to begin in November, with ample time off over Christmas and New Year! Large roles, small roles, mute roles, comic roles, tragic roles, comical-tragical-historical-pastoral roles available for all ages, genders, shapes and sizes!
Preview season 5-7 February 2009 Gladstone Vineyards, Wairarapa
