Recharge: The Gathering 2009

Following on from the success of the previous two Gatherings, in 2009 the event will have the theme “Recharge” and consists of 5 days of work-in-progress presentation, facilitated feedback, presentations, training, networking and exchange; Thursday 9 to Tuesday 14 April at the Newtown Community Centre in Wellington.

The Gathering is for theatre makers, artists, musicians, writers, audience members, critics, students, men, women – anyone with an interest in the making of theatre.

“We hope the action will be two-way, energy both taken in and given out. The individual artist absorbs the energy of the surrounding atmosphere in a way that restores their strength and faith in themselves and their work, at the same time the artist’s purpose and will is strengthened and clarified so that they might regather their forces for the necessary onward charge.” Madeline McNamara.

Registration is now open, with the deadline for work-in-progress proposals being 31 January 2009, and the early bird discount deadline 27 February 2009. For further information including proposals received so far, and to download the registration form, go to:

I remember when the Gathering was all class-A and dance music…still, this sounds like fun too, I guess.
