COMPLEATE WORKES BEGINS!
1 January 2009
Internationally the 400th anniversary of the publication of Shakespeare’s sonnets is being celebrated this year.
To mark this and Shakespeare’s full cannon, Shakespeare Globe Centre New Zealand (SGCNZ) is beginning its Compleate Workes 2009 year. This will include the premiere of Cardenio, reconstructed by Professor Gary Taylor and directed by Professor David Carnegie.
Encouraging the production of all his works in Wellington, SGCNZ is keen to embrace everything Shakespeare-related nationwide throughout the year.
Our specific website will, by mid-January, be alive with international, national professional, emerging professional, community and educational companies and groups and their Shakespeare-related performances, as well as a plethora of allied events, concerts, exhibitions and, of course, readings of the sonnets.
All 154 sonnets will be read on Radio New Zealand throughout the year, as well as in various ways in locales throughout the country.
Please let us know of anything Shakespeare-associated which we can add to the growing list and help with promotion to widen audiences.
An Event Registration Form is available on request and will be on our websites.
Happy New Year and enjoy Shakespeare in his infinite variety!
