FORTUNE THEATRE TRUST –
[CHANGE TO PLAY SELECTION – revising news item of 12 May]
INVITATION TO POTENTIAL DIRECTORS FOR THE SECOND HALF OF OUR 2009 SEASON
The Fortune Theatre (Dunedin) invites expressions of interest from qualified and experienced Theatre Directors who are interested in directing one or more productions in the remainder our 2009 season.
The Fortune operates a four week rehearsal period (including production week) with a six day rehearsal schedule – Monday to Saturday or Tuesday. Productions open on the Friday or Saturday evening of the fourth week. The fee is $4,400 (gross) per play and there will be accommodation and airfare assistance for directors who reside outside Dunedin.
A separate application should be submitted for each production for which you wish to be considered. Applications will be considered and you will be advised no later than Wed 3 June 2009 as to the result of your application.
The productions that require a director for the spring-summer season are:
My First Time by Ken Davenport and people just like you – rehearsals commence July 27 – Open August 20 – Close September 12, 2009.
[This replaces the previously advertised Women on the Verge of HRT by Marie Jones]
Four Flat Whites in Italy by Roger Hall – rehearsals commence October 19 – Open November 13 – Close December 12, 2009.
Electronic copies of the scripts are available from the Fortune Theatre. Please contact Janice Marthen manager@fortunetheatre.co.nz and a copy of the play will be forwarded to you via email. (Hard copies are not available).
Email your application(s) to: manager@fortunetheatre.co.nz For written applications please address to Janice Marthen, Fortune Theatre Trust marked confidential.
Due to the change in the advertised play Women on the Verge the deadline has been extended until May 29, 2009. Directors who have expressed an interest will be forwarded a copy of MY FIRST TIME by Ken Davenport – for directors who are interested in the new play please email manager@fortunetheatre.co.nz
In your application please provide a brief indication of how you view the play and what elements are necessary for you to stage a successful production. Please indicate any casting that would be central to your production. You are free to approach actors to ascertain their availability but you should make it clear that such an approach does not constitute an offer of work which can only be made by the Fortune Theatre. Curriculum Vitaes and current headshots for actors who you may approach can be included with your application. Casting can be constrained by budgets and a copy of the confidential production budget can be made available. The Fortune Theatre reserves the right to pre-cast plays.
The Fortune employs a set and costume designer to work with you on your production along with lighting/sound design and stage management staff. If you have any other requirements (live music, composition, specialist design) please make this known at the time of application along with any related fee quotations.
We look forward to receiving your application.
