THE PLAYPIT – JULY
‘Katydid’ by Lucy O’Brien
6pm Monday 6th July
The Pit Bar @ BATS Theatre
Come down to The PlayPit and meet Kate. Born with cerebral palsy, all her life she has relied on her parents and caregivers for everything others take for granted. Now leaving her teenage years, she also dreams of leaving the home that has both sheltered and stifled her, and of finally entering a world of light that, though harsh, exposes both the beauty and ugliness of life.
Snuggle back in the deliciously informal atmosphere of The PlayPit and throw around a bit of discussion after the reading, or just listen to this great new play read out loud for the first time.
Lucy O’Brien is a Wellington resident, known to some as a writer for NZGamer, an Aro Video employee, and to others for her wit and sarcasm. She has ‘Postal’, another of her plays, being produced at BATS later on this year. Come see why.
The PlayPit is a series of monthly informal playreadings held in The Pit Bar. Writers are always welcome to submit scripts for a reading to Steph Walker at BATS – email steph@bats.co.nz
