24 hour comedy people stage NEW ZEALAND’S FIRST LIVE ‘LAUGH-A-THON’ in support of Kids Can and Telethon 2009   

6pm Sat 8 Aug to 6pm Sun 9 Aug at The Classic, NZ’s home of live comedy

From established headliners through to promising new faces, The Classic community of comedians and staff are going the extra distance in support of this year’s Telethon for KidsCan.

The Classic will be open from 6pm Saturday  8 August through to 6pm Sunday 9 August with 24 a non-stop programme of live comedy.

Audiences will be treated to a wide range of live comedy including stand-up, sketch, panel-comedy, and anything else that springs to mind at 4am on Sunday morning.

There will also be a ‘Breakfast Show’ on Sunday with bacon and eggs followed by a family friendly ‘Classic Kids Stand-Up’ show on Sunday.

While some comedians may only be available for 1 or 2 slots others have already committed to staying awake and participating throughout the entire 24hr period. Can they maintain their timing will be the question?

100% of the proceeds from door sales and additional donations  will be delivered to Telethon at the end of the 24hr period. Director Scott Blanks hopes that at least $20,000 can be raised.

24 HOURS OF LIVE COMEDY…

6pm to 8pm – The First Laughs
This is the warm-up. Our guest host warms up the crowd, talks to the key participants and host of the shows listed below about what is coming up. A cocktail of stand-up and panel comedy.

8pm to 11pm – Saturday Night Live
An all-star line-up of comedians presents a 3hr show

11pm to 2am – The Ultimate Late & Live
A fresh line-up of our late night ‘specialists’ goes hard and fast.

2am to 7am – The Graveyard Shift in the Front Bar
We switch from the Main Venue to the mini-stage in the Front Bar for the run through to Breakfast.

7am to 10:30am – The Breakfast Club in the Front Bar
Live show and breakfast BBQ – cook the man some eggs!

11am to 2pm – Classic Kids Stand-UP
The family friendly stand-up show featuring some of our stars and new faces. Guaranteed clean comedy & an alcohol free zone.

2pm to 6pm – The Last Laughs
Our 24 hour endurance comedians are joined by some fresh legs in a race to the final punchline.
