FOOTNOTE DANCE
Expressions of Interest 2011
Footnote Dance seeks to develop, nurture and present the best new New Zealand contemporary dance, supported by a range of accessible ‘wrap’ programmes and events, to all New Zealanders.
Footnote Dance has international recognition as a leader in the New Zealand contemporary dance industry. Footnote Dance tours the choreographic talents of New Zealand and has a secure, professional artistic environment and management infrastructure. We are a vision-led company of excellent dancers who have stability and artistic challenge and are outstanding ambassadors for dance in Aotearoa.
We are calling for expressions of interest in working as a dancer with Footnote Dance in 2011.
Our commitment is to forming a strong artistic whanau of key creative dance practitioners and to giving ongoing support to the industry. Our first priority is to developing and touring works by New Zealand choreographers using New Zealand music and in 2011 there are already performance commitments and a touring schedule in place.
We would like to hear from dancers with a tertiary dance qualification, passion and performance experience who are interested in being part of the company for 2011. You need to be articulate and open to working with different choreographers who explore a range of methodologies to develop movement vocabulary. You need to love performance in theatres, schools and communities and be committed to travel as an ambassador for contemporary dance made in Aotearoa.
If you are interested please send us (by 13 August):
- A brief statement telling us why you want to dance with Footnote Dance
- Current curriculum vitae
- Current photograph
- Names and contact details of two referees who have relevant and recent knowledge of your work.
- Recent dance works you have been in and processes you have shared with names of the major creative personnel in these projects.
We do not anticipate holding auditions, and welcome enquiry at this stage of the year as we have an intensive research and development period for our 2011 Forte Season being held in August of this year. Interested dancers may be invited to join this workshop time. The proposed dancer contracts will be from 17th January 2011 and will be for all or part of a period of 37 weeks (to early Oct) to be finalised according to performance and touring schedules.
