PUBLIC MEETING: AUCKLAND’S NEW WATERFRONT THEATRE 

6.30pm, Thursday 1 March 

You may have noticed that the plans for the proposed waterfront theatre were back before Auckland Council recently. Support for the project was re-affirmed and an extension of time was granted in order to continue fundraising, planning and other activities, all of which need to be completed before council gives its unconditional support to its $10 million budgeted grant. 

We currently have pledges worth $16.5 million, of the $35 million needed to build the theatre. We have applications in with a number of major trusts and foundations, and will be applying to NZ Lottery Grants Board at the end of this month. We are also actively seeking sponsorship for the project from businesses (both large and small), and hope to be able to announce our naming rights sponsor soon.
