SUMMER SHAKESPEARE (WELLINGTON) CALL FOR DIRECTORS
The Summer Shakespeare Trust is seeking a director for the 2013 Summer Shakespeare Wellington Production (30th Anniversary Year).
Directors will be asked to choose from one of the following plays:
Antony and Cleopatra
The Comedy of Errors
All’s Well That Ends Well
Hamlet
Henry IV Part I
The Two Noble Kinsmen.
The production will take place in the Dell, Wellington Botanic Gardens, from 15th February – 2nd March 2013.
Planning for the production will begin July 2012, with rehearsals taking place over the summer period in Wellington.
Please note – this a two part selection process with only expressions of interest being sought at present.
A short list will be determined from all expressions of interest received and those directors will then be contacted and invited to prepare a full pitch for an interview in mid-June 2012. This full pitch will include: their reasons for their selection of play; how they would approach working with a cast and design team drawn mainly from students and recent graduates; how they would work with the Dell and an alternative wet-weather venue; as well as a general sense of their overall concept for the production. Following these interviews, the director for the 2013 production would be appointed by the end of June 2012.
This is a paid position with a high-level of responsibility. Prospective directors are expected to have some sense of the Summer Shakespeare ethos and background.
If you are interested, please email a cover letter indicating your play of choice and a CV to admin@summershakespeare.co.nz by 5pm Friday 1st June 2011.
