DON’T BLINK SEEKS FEMINIST-THEMED PLAY

Don’t Blink Theatre Company is calling for submissions of original plays an hour or less in length. We are looking for a play with feminist themes, to be performed in a double bill alongside a Caryl Churchill play at the Basement Theatre this summer.

Don’t Blink Theatre Company is a new theatre company formed by the team Andrew Parker (director) and Grace Shelley (producer). We have a successful season of The Importance of Being Earnest under our belt, and are now looking for a fresh and invigorating play with meaty female characters and feminist themes.

‘Feminist’ could mean rethinking history from a female perspective, tackling gender or sex inequality occurring today, telling specifically female stories, or another definition that you feel fits.

The play should not have not been performed elsewhere (previous play readings are fine), unless the play has been substantially reworked since last performance. We would prefer plays with no more than 9 actors (7f, 2m), but please talk to us if you have a great idea which differs from this.

Please submit the full script and a synopsis with it. If the play is still under construction, please submit a detailed synopsis and at least 20 pages of the script. Also send your contact details, some background information about the play if you wish, and a CV of previous theatre involvement, if any.

Submissions close Monday 13 August.

Please email your submission to go@dontblink.co.nz. Feel free to also email with any questions or for more information.
