THE GOLDEN CARNIE AWARDS 2013  

The New Zealand National Circus Awards – aka The Golden Carnies – is a celebration of the finest in creativity, skill and performance from our very own national circus industry.  

The leading circus entertainers competed at a black tie gala performance at the prestigious Opera House in Wellington on the 20th of April 2013. 

The ‘Golden Carnies’ is the newest major national event that attracted participants and audiences from all over New Zealand to find the best of the best short circus acts, and included International judges, celebrity presenters and internationally renowned award winning MC Shay Horay with New Zealand’s premier contemporary dance company Footnote choreographed by Maria Dabrowska and Redbird Junior keeping the show rolling along. 

Both competition and show it is the Academy Awards, Golden Globes & WOW of the New Zealand circus world.

And the winners are:

YOUTH SECTION
Winner: Sam Coad and Lucy Egan
1st runner up: Lisa Komatsubara
2nd runner up: Emily Gare

AERIAL ADULTS
Winner: Aaron Burr
1st runner up: Tanya Drewery
2nd runner up: Eve Gordon

GROUND BASED ADULT
Winner: Mim Conyers
1st runner up: Zach Washer
2nd runner up: Nick Steward
