DANZ seeks CHIEF EXECUTIVE

DANZ (Dance Aotearoa New Zealand) delivers services and leadership to the dance sector as a kaitiaki – caretaker, advocate, facilitator and guide. Its vision is for vibrant and thriving dance in Aotearoa New Zealand. DANZ is seeking the right person to take up this newly created role.

The Chief Executive will contribute strategic leadership and ensure the tactical achievement of a refreshed set of organisational goals. If you possess the following personal attributes and experience we would like to hear from you:

  • CE or senior management experience in a similar or related business
  • Demonstrative dynamic leadership skills
  • A strategic and visionary focus
  • The drive to achieve and develop the organisation: including identifying new growth, new directions and enhanced service opportunities
  • Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to enable and empower staff to deliver activities that align strategically with the organisation’s vision and mission
  • Highly developed business skills including expertise in organisational design and implementation, change management experience, and a high level of financial acumen
  • Exemplary communication skills
  • Some knowledge and experience of the NZ dance sector specifically, or arts sector generally, is desirable.

Key Accountabilities of the Role:

  • Building a sustainable refocused organisation and ensuring a drive for continuous improvement
  • Being accountable for the day-to-day running of the affairs of the company
  • Developing a transparent and strong relationship with DANZ’s highly committed board

Key Tasks:

  • Ensure the company is sustainable and catering to dance interests throughout New Zealand
  • Provide general supervision and management of the organisation’s day‑to‑day financial affairs
  • Develop and implement an Annual Operating Plan that is consistent with strategic direction
  • Work effectively with key stakeholder groups and grow a customer oriented focus
  • Positive engagement with the Board in decision making and strategic planning
  • Work with, develop and extend a small team in Wellington and Auckland
  • Extend current geographical reach so that dance continues to enhance the lives of many throughout New Zealand.

This role may be based in either Wellington or Auckland and is for a three year fixed term. Remuneration will be discussed with the successful candidate.
