The live version of the hit Saturday morning George FM Show which features proper TV3 journalist David Farrier, comic Rhys Darby and Producer Buttons.
Join the Cryptid Factor team for a Saturday afternoon exploration & study of the creatures that are hidden from science. The team came together last year to fill the airwaves with frightening facts of mythical beasts & strange occurrences from around the globe.
Three experts with little or no knowledge of the scientific world are ready to answer all your cryptozoological questions, including why believe in Bigfoot, how to fight a yeti and does the Mongolian death worm really exist?
Expect interviews, analysis, eyewitness accounts, special guests, music and of course lots of witty banter.
The radio show is listened to throughout New Zealand as well as having a huge international fan base. The live show will be a tribute to keeping alive the spirit from the golden age of mystery and adventure.

The Cryptid Factor radio show on 95bfm, that explores the questionable pseudo-science of cryptozoology, has been given the opportunity to partake in this year’s New Zealand International Comedy Festival. But unfortunately the show’s awkward unscripted humour fails to transfer successfully from its radio format to the live stage.
At the helm of The Cryptid Factor is established international comic Rhys Darby and television journalist David Farrier, assisted by their clumsy producer ‘Buttons’, united by their fascination of all things mysterious and tight white trousers.
The threesome works well together as they banter about their exhibitions and the Mega Shark vs Giant Octopus DVD, but in essence it is obvious that they are attempting to channel the comedy dynamics of Ricky Gervais, Stephen Merchant and Karl Pilkington to limited success.
For the live show, The Cryptid Factor is joined by a number of guests, including Mike Boon – who sings about the Loch Ness Monster, Big Foot and the Fiordland Moose – and Leigh Hart, who, amongst chatting about Yeti rape, shamelessly self-promotes his new television show and takes’ a personal call on stage.
While the collective talents of such a comic cast will inevitably be funny in parts, the shows duration, that exceeds an hour and a half, made the whole production drag. For this reason, I’d recommend that you save yourself the $32.50 and tune into their Sunday morning radio show from the comfort of your own bed.
