Laugh out loud stupidity and side-splitting slapstick. Nail biting circus tricks and a phenomenal finish.

The world-touring, crazy stunt people from Dislocate’s show 3 Speed Crunch Box are back with their brand-new show, 3 Speed Crunch Box – Rebooted. In this hilarious story of a family of outlandish stunt people, expect impressive aerobatics, spectacular circus tricks and – you won’t believe it – even more stupid characters in this absurd, side-splitting slapstick comedy.

3 Speed Crunch Box – Rebooted was commissioned by Circus Oz for their educational program in 2016.

“The kids were absolutely mesmerised with eyes not even blinking. They laughed, clapped and cheered throughout.” – MeeToo

The show’s a winner

Review by Joanna Davies 08th Apr 2019

It’s bloody hard to be punctual when you have two small people in tow. More so if the clocks went back the night before. A show has to be good to stop the incessant “Why are we going? I didn’t say I wanted to come. How long will it be? Why are you rushing me?” comments. Cue Three-Speed Crunch Box Rebooted.

When it comes to wrangling an audience, the three-member team of Luke Taylor, Kate Fryer and Geoff Dunstan knows how to crack the whip with an attention-grabbing opening. The dialogue introducing the premise of the show drifts a tad (it’s sustainability by the way), but the performers quickly regain traction with their electric medley of slapstick, stunts, circus feats and acrobatics.

Yep, there’s nothing like physical theatre, feigned pain, juggling and invisible trikes to capture a crowd. Oh, and a loose brain. And tying it all together is the transportative (not a word) magic of a carefully placed sound effect. Chuck in the audience interaction (even Master Super-Shy 8 was set to join in as a member of the child crash mat), and the show’s a winner.

The kids love it, the adults enjoy the carefully peppered grown-up-but-not-too-risqué jokes, and my guys had a different take-out. When asked what they thought they said, “It’s about looking for new ways to solve a problem if you don’t get it right the first time.”

Three-Speed Crunch Box Rebooted is a great hour of entertainment for the whanau. If you get the chance to check it out, do.
