Ah youth! Not that I envy them – not really. But I come close on watching the opening few minutes of “Girlz on Drugs” (Straight Edge Productions) at Bats Heydey Dome.

They’re two girlz – very young. They’re wearing white overalls and lividly green arm length gloves. They’ve got bare feet. More importantly, and portentously, their presence is disarmingly innocent.

We’re told we’re going to be given a visualisation exercise. I groan inwardly. That’s almost as cliched as being told we’ll be going on a journey. Though we’re allowed to keep our eyes open.

Which is just as well – because I watch as the girlz then dispense with the white overalls and disappear. Enter two guys who, before their much needed smoko, set the scene for what follows – we’re in for a spaceship experience.

Our girlz reappear – entirely in green now. They’re fetching and they’re funny. Much of the action consists of playing with members of the audience, who get electronically checked out, and all of whom seem to relish the experience.

Intelligibility reigns as our girlz communicate in an intriguing gibberish. It’s impossible to discern a storyline, but really who cares?

The dance sequence was the best. Our girlz are physically adept and athletic with it. They’re delightfully and humorously uninhibited. Is that what green overalls do for you?

I’m just beginning to wish that I’d love to spot the guys again when on they come – and their laconic exchange is a nice contrast.

I’m not sure what drugs these girlz are on. Making my way out of the theatre in the midst of an amused and heartwarmed crowd, I find myself thinking I wouldn’t mind some-
