DOWNSTAGE GENERAL MANAGER’S DEPARTURE

Andrew Thomson, General Manager of Downstage Theatre Trust, today announced his departure from the theatre to take effect on 20 June.

Andrew has been with Downstage Theatre since October 2007 as General Manager.

In addition, since 1 January this year, Andrew has also been acting in the chief executive role. During this period, Andrew successfully developed and implemented an interim artistic programme and managed the theatre.

"During my time at the theatre, I have enjoyed the variety of productions Downstage has offered this year to the people of Wellington, from the real New Zealand theatre productions to one-woman shows. With all the productions being well attended Downstage has had a successful first half to 2008".

Wishing him well for the future, Board Chair Tom Hardy said the Theatre would miss Andrew as he has managed its affairs through a period of change and coped with many difficulties. He particularly commended Andrew for arranging the "Pick of the Fringe" festival at short notice.
