CONVERSATIONS
BATS is hosting a series of monthly conversations with leading theatre artists and practitioners. They will occur on the last Monday of each month. The first is with Jo Randerson on Monday 30 June at 7pm.
Christian Penny [Head of Directing and Associate Director – Toi Whakaari: New Zealand Drama School] will interview Jo about her work, motivations and dreams, and then invite response/conversation from industry and audience.
Conversation aims to create an environment for us to share frankly and personally about our art and what it means to us.
There will be no admission charge but we will be asking for koha towards costs. We are not pre-booking seats so admittance will be on first come first served basis. If you have any questions please contact Briar on 021-2711002 or briarmonro@clear.net.nz
Jo Randerson author of The Knot, The Spit Children and The Keys to Hell, has worked extensively in the comedy scene (shortlisted for the Billy T James Comedy Award 2005), as well as in pure literature (Robert Burns Fellow in 2001). Her theatre work blends the populism of comedy and circus with the surreal world of absurdist theatre and poetry. Jo has received many awards for her work, including the Bruce Mason Playwrights Award in 1997, the Winston Churchill Fellowship 2003, and the Phoebe Maunsell Artists’ Award, 2002.
