Downstage announces Seasons Change – Spring Showcase 08
Downstage Theatre is excited to announce its programme for the remainder of 2008.
Seasons Change is a thrilling and eclectic combination of productions from all over New Zealand incorporating something for everyone: theatre, dance, circus, music and comedy. The showcase is designed to rejuvenate and recharge Wellington audiences as they emerge from the winter doldrums.
Let the good times roll!
The season springs into action on Tuesday 23 September, with Toa Fraser’s Bare presented in association with Auckland’s Silo Theatre and directed by Oliver Driver.
Expect innovative adult cabaret from Awkward Production’s Adagio – seriously sophisticated circus; Country music with overbite from The Lonesome Buckwhips Charity Gala; see such fun in the Broadway smash-hit comedy The Little Dog Laughed and fall in love again with the highly anticipated return of Jennifer Ward-Lealand in her new cabaret The Look of Love.
Downstage Director Hilary Beaton says the Seasons Change Spring Showcase is world theatre in the making: "Seasons imply renewed energy and regrowth. Downstage’s Spring Showcase captures a mix of theatrical encounters that are more than a great night out on the town. The 5 productions are a series of intimate and unique experiences as diverse as the city of Wellington."
