This application must be received by Mon 23 November 2009.
The audition will be held on Sat 28th November 2009 (10am-4pm) at Wellington Performing Arts Centre (36 Vivian St).

This six-week summer school gives young artists the chance to create theatre alongside the cream of Wellington’s theatre talent. Long Cloud Youth Theatre, Downstage Theatre, Wellington Performing Arts Centre and Young and Hungry collaborate to create a platform for young theatre practitioners aged 15-25 years to stage a theatre production according to a professional standard.

Lead by award winning directors Sophie Roberts and Willem Wassenaar and designer Andrew Foster, this theatre boot camp will result in a two week performance season of Vernon God Little by DBC Pierre, adapted for the stage by Tanya Ronder, at Downstage Theatre.

The play Vernon God Little tells the adventurous story of Vernon who is fifteen years old and lives with his mother in Martirio, a flea-bitten Texan town. His best friend just massacred sixteen of their classmates before killing himself. The town wants vengeance and turns its sight on Vernon. "See what happens now I’m in trouble. See the awesome power of Trouble. Trouble fucken rocks."
