PROGRAMME AND PARTNERSHIPS MANAGER : THE YOUNG AND HUNGRY ARTS TRUST
JOB DESCRIPTION:
This role provides an exciting opportunity for an individual with arts administration and event management and advocacy skills and an interest in youth arts to be involved with one of NZ’s most innovative arts organisations.
This applicant must have experience in arts management and planning, seeking sponsorship and fundraising, and strong organisational and administrational skills.
This full time position is to begin December 2009.
PURPOSE:
- Management and administration of the Trust’s three programmes: the Festival of New Theatre, The Playwrights’ Initiative and the Ambassadors Programme
- Maintaining and establishing key relationships with the Trust and other arts organisations, theatres and educational institutes, funders, sponsors
- Facilitating and nurturing relationships between youth and these key organisations
- Day to day oversight and administration of the Trust’s activities
RESPONSIBILITIES
The Programme and Partnerships Manager reports to the Chair of the Trust and is accountable for the effective management of the following three programmes:
The Festival of New Works
- Planning for and managing the Festival of New Works
- Contracting service providers for the Festival of New Works in conjunction with the Trust Board
- Overseeing the marketing and publicity for the Festival
- Managing all contractors contracted to provide services for the Festival
- Managing the budget for the Festival
- Liaising with the Production Manager to ensure the smooth running of production week and the Festival.
The Playwrights’ Initiative ("PWI")
- Managing the PWI process and liaising with playwrights, dramaturges and other key stakeholders
- Organising the workshops for the commissioned plays (venue, casting, contracting actors and directors, catering, general administrative duties) liaising with writers and dramaturgs and Playmarket
- Publicising the PWI and calling for submissions for each new round
- Circulating draft scripts to panel and Trust.
The Ambassadors’ Programme
- Informing and organising Ambassadors to attend scheduled shows
- Editing and submitting reviews to theatreview.org.nz where appropriate
- Posting reviews on Young and Hungry website
- Liaising with theatres/companies about tickets
- Choosing shows for September and October
- Organising and leading end of year feedback session with Ambassadors, teachers, WCC and theatres
- Writing Letters of thanks to theatres/companies after each show
- Completing the WCC acquittal report.
The Programme and Partnerships Manager is also responsible for:
- Developing and securing sponsorship, funding and other sources of revenue for the Trust and its three programmes
- Developing and maintaining relationships with key stakeholders, e.g. other arts organisations, theatres, funders, WCC, sponsors, the education sector and the wider community
- Creating new networks and partnerships with other events and venues in New Zealand
- Developing and implementing the creative vision of the Trust
- Developing new initiatives which strengthen the vision and viability of the Trust
- General administrative tasks of the Trust (responding to emails and requests for information, preparation of monthly reports, update website when necessary, archiving and filing, updating of operation and procedural manual).
QUALIFICATIONS/SKILLS REQUIRED
- Excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to build and maintain productive relationships with key stakeholders (Bats, Playmarket, CNZ, Wellington theatres and other arts organisations) arts practitioners and young people
- Excellent networking and collaboration skills
- Event management
- Excellent time management and a willingness to go above and beyond
- Reporting and Marketing skills
- Ability to manage multiple competing tasks
- Knowledge of arts funding
- Knowledge of Wellington theatre scene and networks
