RED LEAP WORKSHPS FOR MANUKAU RESIDENTS WITH A HIP HOP BACKGROUND
Thanks to Creative Communities Manukau Red Leap Theatre are pleased to announce a free workshop programme specifically for Manukau residents with a Hip Hop background.
The workshop will be led by Red Leap directors Kate Parker, Julie Nolan and company member, street dancer Justin Haiu. The aim of the workshop is to have fun and exchange Hip Hop and devised theatre skills. This is an opportunity for artists from local crews an extra set of tools for their choreographic kit and their own professional development.
Red Leap Theatre are New Zealand’s leading movement and image based theatre company. You can check us out at www.redleaptheatre.co.nz. We have recently toured our work The Arrival to Sydney Festival, Hong Kong Festival and the NZ International Arts Festival and are currently developing a new work for Auckland Festival 2011. We have no scripts. Much like a dance crew we make our work through a devised process from the combined ideas of our company members.
Recently our productions have not even featured any words, instead we use highly physical movement and imagery made from our bodies, light and shadow play, puppetry etc to tell a story. Come along and see what physical theatre has in common with Hip Hop. What can we learn from one another? What magic can we make together?
The workshops will be held
on Friday 21 May and Fri 4 June
from 10am to 3pm
at Otara Music Arts Centre (OMAC).
We do need participants to be able to attend both sessions.
We have limited places available so get in quick.
