SUBMISSIONS FOR THE BASEMENT’S 2011 PROGRAMME
The Basement is pleased to invite submissions from independent companies and practitioners to be part of the programme in 2011.
THE VENUE
The Basement is an affordable venue-for-hire that exists to cultivate the work of emerging practitioners, creating an opportunity to independently produce their own work and develop their craft.
SUBMISSION CRITERIA
We are calling for full-length works from 50 – 120 minutes in length
We will be programming February – December 2011
Our aims:
To provide a platform where Auckland’s less established creative talent can develop their craft and have the opportunity to produce their own work independently.
To endeavour to provide a venue that builds a new generation of performance and develops a younger audience interested in the arts.
To support New Zealand work and the discovery of exciting new ways to present work.
To present a diverse range of dynamic work that is cherry-picked for it’s suitability to our target audience.
SUBMISSION REQUIREMENTS
Please submit the following:
- Completed application form (SEE BELOW)
- A synopsis of the project
- A plot summary
- Information about key people involved (confirmed and unconfirmed)
- Preferred dates for performance season and ideal length of season
- Dates that are impossible for your team to work with
- If the work is short in length please advise if you would consider double billing with another show
- A marketing plan which has details of how you will promote your work
- Name, phone, active email address, and mailing address of the team’s primary contact person
Please attach a copy of the script. If script is unfinished/under construction please provide at least 4-5 pages of script.
If major changes to a project such as change in text, director, producer, actors etc occur we will need to reassess the submission.
