Greetings friends and colleagues

We are needing folk to help out with food and technical support for the one day Magdalena Aotearoa Gathering being held at the Newtown Community and Cultural Centre in Rintoul St on Saturday June 5 (Queens Birthday weekend).  

Saturday June 5^th is a one-day event which will begin with a sykpe link with Welsh based Magdalena Project founder Jill Greenhalgh then include discussions, presentations, video screenings, and performances.We are addressing the question "What is the Magdalena Project and what does Magdalena Aotearoa do?". In essence The Magdalena Project is an international network of women in contemporary theatre of which Magdalena Aotearoa is an active part. This weekend focusses on the needs  of women theatre practitioners but is open to and welcomes all theatre practitioners, artists, audience and interested people.

This is the first of three one-day Gatherings to be held during 2010.

All the information about the Project is on http://www.magdalenaaotearoa.org.nz. This includes a draft programme. We will shortly be posting the extremely interesting detailed programme!!

We have decided that lunch will be a pot luck so bring something delicious to share. Remember morning and afternoon teas. Dinner will be at a local cafe (optional, extra cost).

However we still need people to help us over the weekend with food heating, serving, clean ups etc. Basically some kitchen godesses (of any gender/s). So needed on Saturday are : kitchen folk to share some light duties betwen 9 and 5pm. Including morning tea and afternoon tea and help serve and clean up after lunch. The more volunteers the less time people have to commit to. People could choose what time slot they could do.   

Also needed are technical support people and if possible photographers and video operator  (a tech recky will happen at Newtown early next week, there will also be a late Friday night set up, and the tech volunteers will be neded throughout  the day from 8am through till 5.

The tech person is someone who can help with very basic stuff – mostly getting powerpoint presentations and DVDs/slide shows up on the data projector as well as assisting with the skype link. Please call Madeline on 973 1618 to talk about it if you are available.
