HAVOC IN THE GARDEN

Lennie James and Massive Company

Auckland. A hill.
Five houses on a hill.
Five families in five houses on a hill.
One day in the life of five families in five houses on a hill.
One day and havoc in the garden.

Get a sneak preview of a major new work in development by Lennie James and Massive Company – Havoc in the Garden – at the Metro Theatre, Mangere, before its premiere in March 2011.

A play about families, Havoc in the Garden lays bare the lies holding these families together, the lies tearing them apart and the truth ready to wreak havoc.

A devoted friendship between Massive Company and Mangere was born out of a previous collaboration with Lennie James – The Sons of Charlie Paora – its stories set in a Mangere garage.

“I have been lucky as a writer and actor to have worked on a number of projects that I am immensely proud of, but none rank higher than The Sons of Charlie Paora” says James. “The company of actors that offered their trust, talent, families, secrets and lives to me, in creating and staging the play was beyond belief. They made me a better writer.”

The Sons of Charlie Paora played to sold-out audiences in Manukau in 2005 and Havoc in the Garden sees the same crew back together to touch the hearts and minds of this audience all over again.

Directed by Massive Company’s Artistic Director Sam Scott, the ensemble cast of Havoc in the Garden features Manukau City locals Max Palamo, Olive Asi, Jake Palamo, Beulah Koale, Loretta Aukuso and Tuyet Nguyen with Scott Cotter, Wesley Dowdell, Joe Folau, Ash Jones, Kiri Lightfoot, Miriama McDowell, Bree Peters and Nicole Thomson.
