Applications are invited for a full-time, fixed-term Teaching Fellow position in the Theatre Studies programme within the Music Department. The position will run from mid-year 2011 to mid-year 2012.
This position involves teaching two papers, THEA 241: Playwriting and THEA 341: Advanced Playwriting, and may involve co-supervising Honours-level or postgraduate (MFA) writing projects. Both THEA 241 and 341 are taught within the same semester, so would be taught twice within the appointment period. The successful applicant should have a track record as a performed playwright, as well as dramaturgical skills. The main tasks of the position involve:
– Devising and delivering course content, based on previous versions of the papers.
– Teaching in a classroom setting.
– The assessment of student work.
– Working with individual students on the development of their plays.
Experience in the following areas would be an advantage: teaching the craft of playwriting, experience as a dramaturge, writing for screen and/or radio as well as for the theatre.
