Q’s grand opening took place last Friday night with a spectacular party featuring performances all over the building from some of New Zealand’s brightest and best, all directed by
Mike Mizrahi and
Marie Adams. Auckland Mayor,
Len Brown, officially opened the venue and led a stirring rendition of the Auckland waiata. The evening culminated in a fabulous finale from
Dave Dobbyn and the Jubilation Choir, before guests danced to bands and DJs until the small hours. Keep an eye on our website for photos of this incredible celebration.
Not to let the public miss out, Q’s celebrations continued on Sunday with an open day housewarming for this fantastic new space. Visitors were treated to a tour though the building accompanied by performances by artists from our opening season.
Over a thousand people came through the doors in just five hours and the reactions were of true amazement and delight that Q is finally here. You can read the full story of the day on our website.
We’d like to thank the following suppliers, without whom we could never have pulled off such a spectacular opening: Inside Out Productions, Oceania Sound, Optic Shock, Spotlight, First Scene. And many thanks to our beverage sponsors: Sileni Wines, Epic Beer, Broken Shed Vodka, Stolen Rum and Pommery Champagne.
And now that we’re open, why not come see a show?
Here’s a taste of what’s to come this month…
