NEW GENERAL MANAGER FOR RED LEAP THEATRE

Red Leap Theatre Charitable Trust is delighted to announce the appointment of Helaina Keeley to the role of General Manager. Helaina began her career as a dancer for New Zealand’s leading choreographers before transitioning into arts management as Creative New Zealand’s Senior Advisor for Dance and Theatre. Helaina is well respected as an advocate for artists and brings wonderful skills and energy to the role.

Helaina will conclude a contract with Auckland Arts Festival before commencing her role as General Manager in April. Helaina’s appointment will allow founding General Manager Lauren Hughes to retire from the company’s day to day management in favour of a governance role on the Trust Board. Lauren’s contribution to the organisation to date has been enormous and we are delighted to be able to retain her expertise in the organisation through her role on the Board.

Helaina will work alongside Co-Artistic Directors Kate Parker and Julie Nolan, and Producer Theresa Hanaray to plan, resource and deliver the company’s programme. In 2013 this includes The Arrival’s tour to Taiwan and Macao, development of three independent devised works for the INCUBATOR: Short Works programme, a national tour of Paper Sky, creative direction of the Schools’ Trash 2 Fashion Awards show, the development of our own new main bill production and a myriad of education and community engagement initiatives. It is an exciting time in the evolution of Red Leap.
