Toi Whakaari: NZ Drama School is New Zealand’s leading specialist tertiary education provider for the performing arts.

We are looking for a talented marketing and communications practitioner to help us grow the school in an increasingly competitive environment.

The main focus for the successful candidate will be on student recruitment – growing the number of enquiries the school receives as well as the number of applications and ensuring that every course is over-subscribed. Toi Whakaari takes an “all school” approach to communications, especially online and social media. One of the key responsibilities for the successful candidate will be to co-ordinate all those efforts and upskill all staff and students so that their efforts are time-efficient but still effective at meeting the goals of the school.

  • Creative and professional writing skills – able to write for a range of markets
  • Skills at building and maintaining personal relationships and connections
  • Strong leadership skills and the ability to motivate and influence others
  • Excellent judgement
  • The ability to handle high pressure and deadlines, and the stamina, creativity and perseverance to achieve high quality results within limited budgets and timeframes
  • A capacity to innovate and appreciate and support innovation around them
  • The ability to deal with a wide range of people and situations with charm and good humour, and get results
  • An appreciation of Te Ao Māori.
