Robert Tripe 1973-2014 

Equity New Zealand is very sad to announce the death of actor Robert Tripe.

Robbie was a valued member of the union and gave much of his time and energy being Vice President when we opened the MEAA office in NZ back in 2008. The New Zealand performer community has lost a dear friend and colleague. Equity President Jennifer Ward-Lealand says, “Robbie was a terrific support to me, and we very much enjoyed travelling together to Australia for committee meetings – and pinching ourselves that we were now part of such a big union. I will miss him”

His theatre credits included THE GREAT ART WAR (Court) TE AURARUA (Théâtre des Trois Chênes), THE GRADUATE (Fortune), THE CHERRY ORCHARD (Circa), DEATH OF A SALESMAN (Circa), YOURS TRULY (Bats), THE PITMEN PAINTERS (Fortune), SOME EXPLICIT POLAROIDS. THE KING,THE QUEEN AND THE SERVANT (Basement), and NOEL & GERTIE (Tabard Theatre). Robert’s theatre highlight is playing Daniel in KATYDID at the Bats Theatre in 2010.

Robert’s television credits include, THE STRIP, SHORTLAND STREET and POWER RANGERS. His film credits include THE TRUTH ABOUT DEMONS, THE LAST GREAT SNAIL CHASE, THE 3 MILE LIMIT.

A celebration of his life will be held at the Royal Opera House Wanganui, 69 St Hill Street at 3pm Saturday 8th November. If you would like to have something read at the funeral please contact Robert’s brother, Will Tripe at: wtripe@mediaworks.co.nz

In lieu of flowers please either donations to the Mental Health Foundationwww.mentalhealth.org.nz or plant an native tree in his memory.
