The Performance Arcade announces its open call to artists from Aotearoa and around the world for its 2022 programme of works (open from 17-27 February). Also, for the first time ever... we will be running a nationwide series of wānanga for public and artists interested in the event over the following month.

Welcome all to Level 1! What a relief to have restrictions lifted allowing artists and audiences the opportunity to reconnect around the country. Aotearoa is gearing up towards a busy few months of events and festivals heading into summer and 2021, and we trust this renewed energy brings a sense of hope to many of us going forward, especially in light of how privileged we are to be able to support live performance at this time in the world. PANNZ is excited to reveal our re-imagined arts market for 2021 with applications opening on Monday 19 October at 9am.

CREATIVE NEW ZEALAND’S COVID-19 EMERGENCY SUPPORT TIMEFRAMES SHORTENED In this special pānui we’re announcing the new closing date for our Arts Continuity Grant and Emergency Relief Grant to ensure we have sufficient resources and can continue to effectively plan our ongoing support for the sector as the environment continues to change. The new closing date for both will be 1pm Friday 29 May instead of 18 June. More details in the media release below.

THE PERFORMANCE ARCADE 2020 CALL FOR PROPOSALS The Performance Arcade announces its open call to artists from New Zealand and around the world for its 2020 programme of works (20 February - 1 March). This annual exhibition and programme of events located on Wellington Waterfront is recognized as an important platform for live art, with ten successful presentations over the past eight years. This hybrid gallery/ stage architecture is made from an assembly of shipping containers to create a series of spaces for installation, performance art, sonic art, interactive media, video-art, forums, theatre, dance, and live music.

WELLINGTON SUMMER SHAKESPEARE AUDITIONS Performers are invited to audition for roles in the Wellington Summer Shakespeare production of Hamlet to be staged in the Botanical Gardens in February 2019. Please note: This audition process is for general auditions – i.e. all other characters in the play – the role of Hamlet has already been cast. Hamlet is being played by Stevie Hancox-Monk with a mixed gender cast. This will be a contemporary, ensemble-based production directed by David O’Donnell, award-winning director, author, lecturer at Victoria University of Wellington and the first person to direct a Summer Shakespeare in the Botanical Gardens in 1990.
