2017 AUCKLAND FRINGE AWARD WINNERS AUCKLAND FRINGE FESTIVAL 21st February – 12th March 2017 Auckland Fringe has fired its last paintball, voiced its 621st and final opinion, and delivered its last love token for 2017. And after three weeks of city-wide performance, installations and community events, our panel of 22 industry judges sat down together to play a giant game of critical tug-of-war.

THE COURT THEATRE HAS APPOINTED A NEW ASSOCIATE DIRECTOR Dan Bain, who also holds the position of The Court Jester’s Artistic Director and whose work has been seen on stage at The Court previously, has accepted the coveted role. The Court’s Artistic Director, Ross Gumbley, is thrilled with the choice: “Dan Bain presented himself as the outstanding candidate. We have seen through the work that Dan has produced in the past that he has an accent on both excellence and innovation. We look forward to the work that he will bring to Court audiences as the new associate director.”

CRYSTAL CLEAR SHAKESPEARE Presented by Ben Crystal with SGCNZ Alumni in Circa Two Wednesday 31 May – Saturday 3 June 7:30pm What did Shakespeare’s plays sound like in his day? How did those couplets rhyme?? UK actor, prolific author and presenter of Original Pronunciation (OP), Ben Crystal will work in Wellington with a troupe of renowned Shakespeare Globe Centre NZ (SGCNZ) Alumni, exploring the fascinating original sound of Shakespeare’s plays. They will perform a Shakespeare Showcase of famous scenes, sonnets, songs, speeches and soliloquies in OP, readings full of rhyme, rhythm, and a very subtle humour. And a not-so-subtle one too! THEATREVIEW SEEKS MORE VOLUNTARY MANAGERS Theatreview is seeking volunteer Schedule and Production Page Managers, for: DANCE – nationwide, and THEATRE – Auckland region [could be a venue-based job-share, for example, someone may handle all the Basement Theatre shows while someone else does the rest]. Now that our funding has run out, and while we continue to explore alternative funding models, Theatreview needs to spread the management workload on an unpaid volunteer basis.
