FORTUNE THEATRE 2014 40th Anniversary Season 2014 marks Fortune Theatre’s 40th Anniversary. Rubies, which represent the 40-year milestone, are believed to have an eternal inner flame. Fortune Theatre is Dunedin’s gem that has burned brightly in the heart of the city for the last four decades. It has revived classics, produced works by locally, nationally and internationally renowned playwrights and, most recently, has centralised its focus to introduce audiences to new and exciting voices in contemporary theatre. The 2014 season stays true to a contemporary vision while celebrating past, present and beyond.

BEER + BARD: BURNING GLOBE with THIS FAIR VERONA “… a quart of ale is a dish for a King” – A Winter’s Tale Ten-year old Madeleine Brooks Gillespie loves Shakespeare and her Dad, Pete Gillespie, is the brewer at the Garage Project brewery. When she read about Shakespeare’s original Globe burning down in 1613, it occurred to her that it was exactly 400 years since it happened. She suggested to her father that he make a special brew of a beer, made with smoked malt, to commemorate the event, and sell it at a function with the proceeds going to Shakespeare Globe Centre New Zealand! Maddie recommended they call the ale, Burning Globe.

DUFFY BOOKS IN HOMES AUDITIONS Duffy Books in Homes are looking for six actors to join our 2014 national tour of 'The Duffy Show'. Tour Information: 'The Duffy Show' consists of two Auckland based teams (three actors in each team) to tour for a period of approximately nine months travelling from the top of the North Island to the bottom of the South Island. Performing in Duffy schools with audience sizes ranging from 14 to 400, this is a great way to see the country while practising your craft and getting paid. This established tour has been around for 15 years and is an amazing experience for those involved.
