VICTORIA UNIVERSITY SUMMER SHAKESPEARE 2014 AUDITION NOTICE MACBETH The Victoria University Summer Shakespeare 2014 is Macbeth, one of Shakespeare’s darkest and most powerful tragedies to be directed by Sarah Delahunty. Macbeth, a brave Scottish general receives a prophecy from a trio of witches that one day he will become King of Scotland. Consumed by ambition, Macbeth and his wife murder King Duncan and take the throne. Wracked with guilt and paranoia he becomes a tyrannical ruler forced to commit more and more murders to protect himself from animosity and suspicion. Sarah Delahunty’s production will be contemporary and rough. Think about ‘Sons of Anarchy’, leathers and motorbikes, and you have the starting point for the creative direction of the ‘play that shall not be named’. Join us on a dark journey into blood and madness, into a mind crazed by violence and greed.
