NEW ZEALAND THEATRE MONTH 2018 – update 30 DAYS OF NATION-WIDE ELEVATION AND CELEBRATION NZ Theatre Month coming this September. From Whangarei to Invercargill, more than 450 shows and events will be staged by more than 70 different organisations including professional theatre companies, community theatre groups, schools and other institutions around the country. From professional companies such as Auckland Theatre Company bringing premiere NZ works such as The Giltrap Audi season of Stuart Hoar’s Rendered, to distinctly Māori company Taki Rua’s Hine Kihāwai, to grassroots theatre like Theatre Whakatane’s Hang On a Minute Mate, each show will bring its own special magic to the stage.

THE COURT THEATRE CHIEF EXECUTIVE MOVING TO HEAD THE ARTS CENTRE The Court Theatre’s Chief Executive Philip Aldridge today announced his resignation after thirteen years in the role. However he will not be lost to the arts, as he is taking on the role of Chief Executive for The Arts Centre. Aldridge said it was not an easy decision to make leaving The Court, and it was with a heavy heart and mixed emotions that he told The Court Theatre community of his decision.

DUNEDIN FRINGE AWARDS NIGHT CELEBRATES SUCCESS After an eleven day whirlwind of non-stop arts and entertainment, the 2018 Dunedin Fringe Festival concluded with the official Festival Awards last night. The event was held at the Emerson’s Festival Club in the Dunedin Community Gallery and was attended by artists, volunteers, staff and supporters of the Fringe. Fifteen awards were presented to artists from Dunedin and around New Zealand.
