HANNAH PLAYHOUSE WILL BE OPEN FOR BUSINESS IN 2014 The Hannah Playhouse has a new tenant with the Wellington Museums Trust signing an agreement with the Hannah Playhouse Trust to lease the building during 2014 for the Capital E National Theatre for Children. A $150,000 grant from Creative New Zealand will also enable the Museums Trust to open the Playhouse to other professional performing arts organisations for subsidised hire and to conduct a feasibility study on the future use of the Playhouse.

CAPITAL E TO LEASE HANNAH PLAYHOUSE The seats of the Hannah Playhouse will be filled with theatre-lovers again next year – though it will be a considerably younger crowd. Wellington Museums Trust announced that the Capital E National Theatre for Children would take on the space formerly occupied by Downstage Theatre.

BEER + BARD: BURNING GLOBE with THIS FAIR VERONA “… a quart of ale is a dish for a King” – A Winter’s Tale Ten-year old Madeleine Brooks Gillespie loves Shakespeare and her Dad, Pete Gillespie, is the brewer at the Garage Project brewery. When she read about Shakespeare’s original Globe burning down in 1613, it occurred to her that it was exactly 400 years since it happened. She suggested to her father that he make a special brew of a beer, made with smoked malt, to commemorate the event, and sell it at a function with the proceeds going to Shakespeare Globe Centre New Zealand! Maddie recommended they call the ale, Burning Globe.
