Have all the other Fringe shows gone to bed?…
Come to the Basement for the OFFICAL FRINGE LATE SHOW!
It’s Late Show time at the Basement Theatre! DIY John and his sexy assistant invite Fringe performers to speed interviews and pressure challenges. It will be brimming with fantastic guest performances, join in the fun and stand amazed at the ridiculous things John can make from household scrap!
DIY John is a children’s TV show host, although it soon becomes obvious that though he clearly means well, he should really never be advising children…
Mark Scott (aka DIY John) is excited about bringing this character to life again, this endearingly flawed individual appeared in his shows a few years back and won Best Comedy in the Dunedin Fringe, it also attracted radio and newspaper attention in Halifax, Canada that same year – hold on to your hats people DIY John is in town!

Sky, John’s ‘assistant’, is on hand to offer assistance much like a magicians assistant would, with pink saw horse in hand. By D.I.Y John’s description she has the ‘right tools’ to get the job done.
Oh D.I.Y John, “You dirty old bastard!” I quote an audience member directly who provokes loud laughs with this comment.
This evening’s chosen guest talent, pick n mixed from the Fringe’s eclectic blend of performers,, includes Stephen Lunt, Director and Producer of the Theatre production The Wrong Side. Poetry Idol and Billy T Award nominee, resilient Cantabrian Penny Ashton, is vivacious and hilarious after a two-date season of GUSH: Love And Other Filthy Habits.
Square Eye Pair Hamish and Eli garner laughs with a dubbed up fight scene from their satirical expose into Generation Y’s obsession with new media.
International guest Tim Watts of The Adventures of Alvin Sputnik, Deep Sea Explorer packs the night up with an endearing sub-marine view of his charming creation.
