Prepare to be mesmerised when Australia’s Casus Circus returns to the festival with their breathtaking new show, Driftwood.
As we drift along the current of life, we are shaped by the humans we encounter. The stories of our loved ones, our enemies and complete strangers guide us and determine the person we become.
In this colourful and turbulent concoction of pure joy and intimacy, watch Casus bring a blank canvas to life and reveal our innate need for human contact.
This is a circus show that does not let you forget that to feel is to be human and in a moment of danger, a grasping hold is survival. Unique acrobatic shapes, signature to Casus, abound in this journey of explosive encounters, hidden looks, and humorous discoveries. Accompany Casus as we surge forward…together.
Described as “one of the most magnificent shows of the Festival,” by the Edinburgh Festival Magazine, Driftwood firmly cements Casus’ place as an international circus sensation.

Amazed, enchanted, awed and dazzled
Review by Ema Scott 01st Oct 2017
Driftwood, performed by Casus Circus in The Spielgeltent, might refer to the way in which the various mesmerising acrobatic ensembles float together in a random seamless way, but in no way does it refer to that which underpins the way these five creative individuals work together.
They all have their own body configurations; skill, strength and agility;- their own beauty which shines through, but together, trust is the well-developed sinew that allows them to move, run and play, dare and challenge, build torque and tension and suspense, that amazes and thrills us. Commitment to and obvious love of the circus genre forms the other connective tissue to this well-oiled, smooth flowing, dynamic group of performers.
It is their pure joy and love of being in articulate bodies that we revel in seeing.
They offer their bodies to one another to be used as spring boards, support structures, props even, so that amazing feats of co-ordination, balance, body sculptures and aerial acrobatics can be performed.
We are in effect lifted, weightless, propelled, suspended and held.
Their bodies are the launchers of these experiences and we the audience are amazed, enchanted, awed and dazzled by their brilliance.
