SYDNEY TIME OUT MAGAZINE’S BEST COMEDIAN 2012
Luke Heggie had a job at a bottle shop. He had to serve hundreds of members of the general public every day; alcoholics, idiots, egocentrics, awkward losers, rude bastards and all of the above. This made him not so much disappointed, as angry.
Brisbane-born labourer Luke began 2010 with the New Year’s resolution that he’d have a go at “doing stand-up”. His first gig was the one where he won his RAW Comedy heat, his second got him through the semis and his third won him the state final. His win in the nationally televised RAW that year was the first of many industry accolades he’s won in his short but stellar career, the most recent being flown over for a week’s run at 2012’s invite-only New York Comedy Festival.
As evidenced by the amount of respect he’s earned in his -in comedy terms- fledgling career, Luke is a force to be reckoned with. In just three years as a comedian he has been flown over bodies of water (some greater than others) to play festivals in Edinburgh, New York, Los Angeles and Tasmania. New Zealand is next on his list and Luke is ready to impress.
See the winner of Time Out Magazine Sydney’s “Best Comedian” 2012 in his feel good surprise hit show of the summer. If you have ever demanded ten cents back so you can get rid of two fives, paid with a cheque, or deliberately clicked on a Get Ripped Quick ad on a website, then don’t come to this show. No tyre kickers.
“Sharp, sardonic, and understated” Sydney Morning Herald
“Deadpan delivery and exquisite timing…” Herald Sun
