Has a little something for everyone and a little something of everything
Review by Deborah Eve Rea 23rd Sep 2023
Mischievous Mr Fungus is back these school holidays to take me midday nap at Circa Theatre. Directors Thom Monckton and Amalia Calder have partnered up, creating a fabulously creative team with performer, Fergus Aitken.
Mr Fungus Dreams has a little something for everyone and a little something of everything. The show features juggling, puppetry (Birdlife Productions), projection (Stephen Aitken), magic, sleight of hand, glow in the dark oddities and even the odd hat-trick.
As well as being very silly, there are also some lovely quiet moments where the audience ooh and ahh collectively.
Mr Fungus is fun and high energy – even when dreaming. The little audience members love him. At my performance, the majority of the house was under five and they remained attentive throughout, giggling gleefully. As they exit they ask to “see the funny man again”.
