“New Zealand’s coolest comedy improv group… the stuff of dreams…” – The Spinoff
Auckland’s favourite comedy improv super troupe Snort lands in Wellington for one show only of late night improv extravaganza. With smash hit sellout shows every week up in Auckland, don’t miss NZ’s best young comedians whip up delightfully unruly scenes, supported by guest cameos from across the Festival.
Silly, surprising, and sometimes downright saucy, NZ’s funniest improvisers pull scenes out of thin air for an hour chock-full of hare-brained nonsense.
Featuring a cast full of Fred Award and Billy T nominees and winners including Chris Parker, Tom Sainsbury, Kura Forrester, Brynley Stent, and Donna Brookbanks.

Review by Clarissa Chandrahasen 18th May 2019
Our host, the effervescent Fred Award-winner Chris Parker comes bounding on stage to introduce us to the concept of the show and to the players: Kura Forrester, Tom Sainsbury, Donna Brookbanks, Brynley Stent, Rhiannon McCall and himself.
There are 3 special guests, each of whom must give a monologue inspired by a word from the audience. The improvisers then create a collection of scenes based on the monologue.
Our first guest is Rhys Nicholson who is given the word ‘dinosaur’. The improvisers latch on to Rhys’ concept that you’re either a dinosaur kid or an Egypt kid. Tom Sainsbury is hilarious playing an Egypt kid ‘coming out’ to his dinosaur family. The rest of the cast then introduce us to a raft of characters – Tom’s parents, an Egyptologist, and even a sexy Egyptian mummy.
Our second guest is Tessa Waters, who is given ‘France’. Tessa tells us about how she studied at the French Gaulier school, and about the toaster advertisement acting job that funded her studies. The players have a lot to work with on this one, and Kura Forrester (who also studied at Gaulier) really shines in a brilliant impersonation of Tessa Waters, nailing her signature ‘seaweed’ move.
Our third guest is Olivia Parker who gets given the word ‘cushion’. Her monologue inspires a date scene between Tom and Kura where Tom’s character reveals if he were an object, he would be a dildo. The scenes that follow address the fallout of such a revelation.
This is the only Snort show in Wellington this festival sadly, but if you are ever in Auckland, I highly recommend you check out Snort. Otherwise, head along to their individual shows – if they’re not already sold out!
