It’s one of the most eagerly awaited shows in the annual NZ International Comedy Festival providing punters with a taste of things to come over the following 3 weeks.
In 2013 The 5 Star Comedy Preview introduces a host a brand new flavours, some of which were scouted from the 2012 Edinburgh Fringe, the world’s biggest live comedy festival.
Who’s Who in 2013:
Tom Gleeson (Australia) – One of Melbourne’s finest and a popular trans-Tasman guest on TV3’s top rating ‘7 DAYS’ show.
Markus Birdman (England) – A veteran of 5 Edinburgh Fringe fests – “the all-round package; witty, controversial, hip, topical and silly” – The BBC
Elis James (Wales) – One of Britain’s finest emerging talents; combining story-telling, characters and straight stand-up with the charming delivery that has made James such a favourite on the British comedy circuit.
James Acaster (England) – 2012 Edinburgh Comedy Award Nominee – “one of the sharpest comic minds to have emerged in recent years.” The Guardian UK
Andrew Bird (England) – “Absolutely charming. A great storyteller. Funny, likeable and effortless” Time Out UK
Stuart Goldsmith (England) – Definitely one to watch following 3 critically acclaimed solo shows over the last 3 Edinburgh Fringe Fests.
Chris Martin (England) – Very popular on debut here in the 2012 Festival, back with a new show in 2013 and looking forward to catching up with a growing legion of fans.
All these acts will be appearing in a variety of shows throughout the festival including their own award winning solo shows but the ‘5 Star Comedy Preview’ is a rare opportunity to see them altogether on the same stage.
