Lindsay Clark has been involved with performing arts education and theatre for over 40 years. Her work in education has ranged from lecturing in English and drama at the University of Canterbury and contracts for the Ministry of Education and NZQA, to running and adjudicating the Sheilah Winn Festival of Shakespeare in Schools for Canterbury and Invercargill. As adviser in English and drama for the (then) Christchurch Teacher’s College, she have been involved with workshops and presentations for both English and drama. Lindsay also served for nine years on The Court Theatre Trust Board, with special interest in fostering links with schools.

In theatre, Lindsay has directed both professionally and for the Canterbury Repertory Society, serving for many years on that committee. As co-founder of the Good Will Shakespeare Trust she co-directed Summer Shakespeare for the Christchurch City Council for several years and most recently The Wind in the Willows. The Canterbury Young Shakespeare Company was an offshoot of the Good Will Shakespeare Trust, dedicated to working with talented young people on professionally mounted productions of the Bard.

Most recently Lindsay’s theatre making is limited to fund raising for causes such as the Ngaio Marsh Trust. She has written theatre reviews for The Press but in recent years exclusively for Theatreview. ‘The itch does not go away with scratching.’
