Christina Houghton is an Auckland-based performing artist with a background in choreography and costume design. She has shown performance work both locally and internationally. Her practice circumnavigates between social choreography, ecology and art as site-responsive and participatory. Her recent research responds to local water bodies through performance and sensory walking tours such as Water Slides (2012), Survival Tour Series (2013-2015) as well as a creative communities project,Wild Walks. She has taught in Dance Studies, Auckland University, Unitec School of Performing and Screen Arts, and AUT Performance and Media Studies, and also works with children teaching creative dance. She has a MCPA from the University of Auckland and is currently undertaking research for a PhD at AUT University.
