Genevieve McClean is known as an actress and poet. She has appeared on and off screen over the last two decades acting mostly in theatre and independent film. She is also a filmmaker. She has worked on award winning collaborative teams for stage and screen as a writer and performer, and in 2011 she completed a 240-minute documentary project of her own.  Genevieve has a gradient into arts and social commentary that spans over twenty years.

She took a degree in Theatre History and English Literature combining studies from Auckland and Otago. During the early 90s she fronted the Dunedin band Mink. Genevieve graduated from the New Zealand Drama School in 1997 and for some years was based in Wellington as a working actor. Subsequent to traveling with a theatre company in Spain and the Czech Republic, she lived in Berlin, while shooting a documentary about New Zealand artists in Central Europe.

Genevieve has guest lectured at all levels in education. She has toured in the States as a poet, and has performed extensively around New Zealand exploring various takes on spoken word. She is also a voice coach, and holds a dip-grad in secondary teaching. Her interests are in the mechanics of language, and audience across a broad spectrum of arts and social forms. She teaches creative writing, and she is developing work intended for film, paper, stage and digital media.

Genevieve lives in Grey Lynn with her son and their three-legged cat.
