Judene Edgar has been involved in theatre as a practitioner, administrator, governor and funder. She was a member of Body in Space theatre company performing monthly improvisation shows at the Theatre Royal as well as a variety of other shows. She’s also performed improvisation with Off the Cuff and has devised and produced her own historical improvisations in a series of “History Brought to Life” shows.
Judene has performed in a wide range of shows and musicals with Nelson Repertory, Northpark Productions, Wag the Dog Productions and Nelson Theatrix including Gut Girls, Love in the Spotlight, Bananaruma, A Christmas Carol Steampunk Style and St Brigid’s Eve. Additionally, she has produced a number of shows including Wairau Affray and Maungatapu and last year wrote her first play Horton Hatches a Controversy which was in the 2022 Nelson Fringe Festival.
Previously she was an executive committee member of Arts Council Nelson and a trustee of the Nelson Fringe Arts Charitable Trust and is currently a trustee of Fresh FM and the Theatre Royal. She supported arts funding as a member of the Creative Communities committee and is currently a trustee of the Rātā Foundation and Network Tasman Trust. A former reporter, she is a regular contributor in Nelson Magazine and Marlborough Magazine, a performing arts reviewer and arts marketer.
