Nikkie Karki is an actor, producer, writer, improviser.

After training to be an actor in the 90s she toured with various theatre companies (slapstick, sit com and educational theatre) in the UK, she moved to Queenstown, NZ in 2004 and started teaching speech and drama from children to adults. She moved to Nelson 2009 and become a member of Nelson’s improvised comedy troupe, The Deepend, who performed monthly at The Theatre Royal for five years. The Deepend has since morphed into the Peoples Republic of Improv, hosting weekly shows on a month on, month off basis. Nikkie has also taught improv and taken format shows to NZIF in Wellington.

Nikkie has loved the Fringe since it started in 2015, she performed in the play, Bird Life, and was nominated best actress. In 2017 she wrote, directed, produced and performed in a play called Hidden. In 2018 she wrote and performed a short play called Ivy, about her grandmother, followed by performing in a play called Agent Bonbon. She also performed in a two person improv show called Last Couple Left On Earth.

Nikkie likes to combine 3 dimensional characters in short and long form improvisation. She organises the Regional Theatresports competition for the colleges and Intermediate schools in the Tasman area and is currently running an improv class for young people at Nayland College/Broadgreen intermediate and drama classes for students of Clifton Terrace School.
